The beaches by the Limfjord are also great for yachting and sailing. The area is also good for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, while Toftum Bjerge is a popular area for paragliding. Glyngøre is also home to a large dive park, with ship and tank wrecks, compass and obstacle courses, stone reefs and a cave.
Those who prefer urban environs will feel right at home in the larger nearby towns of Nykøbing, Thisted, Struer and Skive. Denmark’s fourth largest city, Aalborg, is also well worth a visit during your holiday to the Limfjord area. It is teeming with many shops, restaurants, cafés and sights.

These include the well-preserved Medieval Spøttrup Castle near Skive and the 600-metre-long Limfjord Bridge in Aalborg, which opens up whenever large ships need to pass underneath. Jesperhus Flower Park has its own playground and jungle zoo and so makes a fun and pleasant day-trip destination for the whole family. The limestone quarries in Mønsted are the largest limestone mine in the world, and visitors can get a first-hand look. A visit to Jutland’s oldest farm, the Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede, is also recommended. Here you can immerse yourself in old craft traditions and farming methods and get an insight into what life was like in a small Danish village of the past.
