The area is naturally categorised by the North Sea, which attracts thousands of tourists to Henne Strand and other resort towns along the coast ever year. In addition to the wild and roaring North Sea, you can also explore the beautiful dunes and heathlands in the area around Lake Filsø.

Although Filsø was once one of the largest lakes on Jutland, it was actually drained in the 50s, until its restoration in 2012. Today the area is a birdwatcher’s paradise and home to swans, lapwings and lots of geese, so it is definitely worth visiting if you decide to spend your holiday at Henne Strand. The Filsø Ellipsen was inaugurated in 2017. The Filsø Ellipsen is a viewing bridge which gives visitors a unique opportunity to really experience and appreciate the natural beauty of this area.

There are many options for an active holiday in Henne Strand. If you have bikes with you at the holiday home, then you will be able to enjoy many nice rides around the area – both on shorter routes, combined with a picnic, and longer routes, which will keep you in shape on your holiday. You will also find plenty of good options to catch your own dinner with a fishing rod, not to mention ample opportunity to get in a good walk along some of the many hiking trails and paths in the area.

Fishing for turbot or flatfish along the coast in Henne Strand is a really pleasant experience. Mountain biking by Henne Strand 

If you want to get out on your mountain bike during your holiday then the area around Henne Strand has some good and challenging trails. Some of the best mountain biking trails in Denmark are to be found in Blåbjerg Plantage, which is about 20 minutes from Henne Strand by bike. From the car park at the Blåbjerg Stone (Blåbjergstenen) there are three trails – four, seven and 13 km in length respectively. 

Golf at Henne Strand

You can find Henne Golf Club in a unique location between the sea and the dunes. This international 18-hole golf course offers a great view over Lake Filsø, among other things. The breeze from the sea make the course particularly challenging. So if you want to spend your holiday swinging clubs on the green, Henne Strand is an excellent choice of holiday destination. 

Attractions and sights near Henne Strand

In addition to the roaring sea and the fantastic sandy beach, the area also boasts plenty of sights, such as the Miniature Town in Varde (Minibyen), Tambour Garden (Tambours Have) the exhibitions at Barde Museum and of course Legoland, which is within a one-hour drive. If you drive north towards Skjern, then in 45 minutes, you will reach WOW Park, where you can play up in the treetops.

The golf club in Hanne offers many fun activities to enjoy such as mini-golf, football-golf and of course regular golf as well, or how about some horseback riding on the beach as the perfect way to round off an idyllic day of vacation? The nature which surrounds Henne Strand is good for both walking and cycling in scenic and untouched landscapes beneath wide open skies.

Travel 1000 years back in time and experience the atmosphere at the Bork Viking Harbour. This will give you an insight into life at the time of the Vikings – check out their ships in the harbour and experience how they lived back then. There is also a cinema and an exhibition about the Viking Ages in West Jutland.
