Large pool houses in Vrist and Vejlby Klit in West Jutland
The beach at Vrist is a child-friendly sandy beach with high dunes and a Blue Flag. Here you can enjoy unspoiled nature in the form of the sea, fjords, lakes, hilly landscapes and a rich birdlife.
Anglers will find plenty of options to go fishing by the sea, the fjord or at the Vejlby Klit Fishing Lake.
Denmark’s largest fortification with the remains of 64 bunkers from World War II can be experienced at Thyborøn Fortress.
The Snail House (Snegelhuset) in Thyborøn is also worth a visit. The house is decorated outside and inside with millions of shells, and it is also home to Denmark’s largest collection of ships in a bottle.
When it comes time to eat, we recommend visiting De Røde Barakker, where you will find the Mallemukken Café and Restaurant in an inverted fishing boat.
Over at the Jutland Aquarium (JyllandsAkvariet), you can pat a shark on the head, touch the back of a ray and tell the difference between flatfish. There is also an indoor sandy beach with amber.
The aquarium also organises lots of excursions all throughout the year. For example there are seal safaris, nature safaris in a tractor bus, amber safaris with an amber guarantee and oyster safaris in the western Limfjord.
You can also visit the Coastal Centre (Kystcentret), which is an experience centre where you can play with sand, water and wind.
