Holiday home rentals in Ålbæk
Here at VillaVilla, we have many years of experience in renting large holiday homes to guests all across Denmark and in Germany and Sweden. Ålbæk is therefore an area that we know very well, and we will be happy to provide you with guidance and advice on what house to choose and on what activities and adventures can be found in the vicinity.
The holiday homes we rent out in Ålbæk are able to accommodate many guests. They can sleep between 18 and 26 people so you will find ample space for every member of the family. A particular advantage of the houses we rent out in Ålbæk is that the bedrooms are spread across two or three separate sleeping quarters. The precise layout of each house will of course depend on its size. The two largest houses also have between one and two lofts, which tend to be especially popular among kids.
The way the houses are laid out means you can divide the space between different groups. For example, each family can occupy their own part of the house, where they can retreat at the end of a long day, or perhaps you might instead choose to divide the areas up by age group. This makes it easier to be considerate towards each other and to make sure that you can enjoy peace and quiet for an afternoon nap, an early bedtime or for lazy mornings, in case you are travelling with teenagers who want to sleep in late.

Special facilities in our holiday homes in Ålbæk
All of the holiday homes we rent out in Ålbæk are holiday homes with a pool, sauna and whirlpool. The kids can splash and play in the large swimming pool, while the adults enjoy a well-deserved break in the sauna or whirlpool. In all of our holiday homes the whirlpool is located in the corner of the pool area, between the water slide and the swimming pool, so you will have no trouble keeping an eye on your happy swimmers and giving them a hand should that be necessary. One of the houses, Holiday Home No. 500, also has an outdoor hot tub, which you can enjoy in both the summer and winter months.
One of the things that makes the holiday homes we rent out in Ålbæk stand out from the other options on the market is their facilities. As already mentioned, the houses have a practical layout in terms of bedroom distribution, and they have pool areas with a swimming pool, whirlpool and a sauna. But that’s not all – our holiday homes in Ålbæk also have an activity room as well. An activity room is a large common room where you can spend hours upon hours enjoying different games and activities. All of the holiday homes that we rent out in Ålbæk have table tennis, darts, billiards and table football. The entire family can take it in turns to play, and if you want, you can organise a family tournament to decide who is the ultimate champion. All of the holiday homes also have a games console which you are free to use. You can find out what type of games console each house has in the individual holiday home description, so you can be sure not to bring the wrong games with you when you pack.
In addition, you are also permitted to bring up to two pets with you to all of the holiday homes that we rent out in Ålbæk. This means that even four-legged family members will be welcome on your holiday. If you need to bring additional pets, you are welcome to get in touch and we will pass your request along to the owner of the home. But please do be aware that if you bring pets along it is your responsibility to make sure that they do not damage the holiday home. In addition you also need to check whether or not dogs are permitted in the outdoor areas nearby. For example, dogs are allowed on the majority of beaches and they are allowed to be let off the lead in certain places between October and March, but there are other areas where pets are not allowed at all.

Holiday home vacation in Ålbæk in North Jutland
Ålbæk as a holiday destination
Ålbæk is located between the towns of Frederikshavn and Skagen in northern Jutland and is known in Denmark as the village of light. That is because Ålbæk holds the record for the greatest number of sunshine hours in all of Denmark. Because the town is located to the north and close to Norway, the Foehn wind from the Norwegian mountains brings a warm air that keeps the area relatively sun-kissed. This is because the wind which descends down the lee side of the Norwegian mountains pushes the clouds over northern Jutland away. The extra sun gives this area a very special sort of light, which Skagen in particular is renowned for. The sunlight is reflected off the sand on the beach, and of course, something else which makes this area special is the proximity between the Kattegat and the North Sea. If you want to experience sunny days and bright nights, then Ålbæk is a great place to spend your holidays.
Ålbæk is also known for being a small fishing village with a marina. Originally, Ålbæk was a fishing village, and it still feels like one today. The charming marina, Ålbæk Havn, has retained its authentic charm. Here you can buy fresh fish to take home for your dinner. The active marina contributes to the charming atmosphere which permeates the town at large.
If you have kids or nervous swimmers in your group, then Ålbæk is a good spot to visit. Ålbæk is located to the east along the coast of the Skaw Split (Skagens Odde), and this stretch is what forms Ålbæk Bay. The bathing conditions are very good as the water is sheltered and therefore calmer than the waters elsewhere in Denmark. Plus the water is also shallow, so the little ones can build up their confidence in the water at their own pace. The water is clear, the beach consists of fine sand with few stones and the sea floor is clear. Cars are not allowed on the beach, and the current is rarely strong, so with all these factors combined, Ålbæk Strand is about as child friendly a beach as can be found.
Activities and sights close to Ålbæk
Ålbæk is a good place to go on holiday in North Jutland, especially because it is centrally located in relation to the many activities and sights that can be found in the area. The Skagen railway line runs directly through the city centre in Ålbæk. This means you can reach both Skagen and Frederikshavn in less than 20 minutes. These two North Jutland towns are certainly both worth a visit. Visiting Skagen feels like travelling back in time to the age of the Skagen Painters. It is a world of yellow houses, red roofs, rising dunes and two seas which come face to face. In Frederikshavn you will feel pretty much like you’ve travelled to the Caribbean, as you will find a palm-tree beach during the summer as well as a large indoor water park inspired by the Caribbean sea.
If you want to visit a larger city at some point on your holiday, it takes only one hour by car to reach Aalborg, which is known in Denmark as the Paris of the North. Just as Ålbæk exudes its history and past, so too does Aalborg. Aalborg was for many years an industrial city, but now it is a place where modern pulse and the remnants of an industrial past collide. This can be seen and felt along the harbour front but also among the city’s many larger buildings, which are now used for other purposes. On a day trip to Aalborg you will discover a charming town with many pedestrian streets, delicious eateries with Danish and international cuisine and exciting museums. Go up the Aalborg Tower or explore the peak of Signalbakken to the east of the centre for a fantastic view over the city and over the Limfjord. Then visit the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art or take a walk through Kildeparken, which is beside the Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center and home to the Singing Trees. The city also has its own zoo right in the heart of town.
If you are more interested in nature than urban environments, head west towards the Ålbæk Klitplantage (Dune Plantation). Here you can go for walks in slightly hilly dune terrain and woodland. Close to Ålbæk, you will also find Farm Fun – a huge nature area with more than 500 birds and animals, where you are allowed to pet and cuddle most of the animals. Not to mention there is also a zip wire, bouncy cushions, ball fields, swings and much more. Farm Fun is the perfect place for children to enjoy a good time in a different environment to what they are used to, where they can meet different animals and burn off lots and lots of energy.
