The bedrooms in each house are divided into sleeping areas. This means that each of the holiday homes has two separate sleeping quarters at either end of the house, so you can respect different sleeping routines. For example, let those who want to go to bed early take the rooms in one section of the house, and that way, the others can stay up and make noise without having to worry about disturbing the ones trying to sleep. Each of the summer houses also has a loft with mattresses for either four or six people. The lofts are intended for children and tend to be a big hit with the little ones, as they can turn them into their own adult-free zone.
Four-legged friends are welcome at the holiday homes that we rent out in Gilleleje. It is permitted to bring up to two pets to these summer holidays, so bring the dog along and enjoy a holiday that truly is for all the family. However please note that the beach at Gilleleje has been awarded Blue Flag status, and so it is not permitted to take the dog onto the beach. If you need to bring more than two pets with you, please contact us. That way we can pass on your request to the homeowner and try to find a solution for all parties.

Entertainment and fun in the water at a holiday home by Gilleleje
When you stay at one of our holiday houses in Gilleleje, you will be able to enjoy the water all year round. For the first part, all of the homes are located close to the beach, just 500 or 250 metres from the water. But even if you are visiting in winter or just generally not fond of finding sand all around the holiday home, you can always enjoy the pool instead of the sea. The holiday homes each have a pool section with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and whirlpool, where you can enjoy hours of splashing and wellbeing. The whirlpool is located in the same space as the swimming pool, while the sauna is located in its own room. This makes the sauna a great place to enjoy some respite after a busy day or for getting some heat back in your bones after being out in the cold.
Each holiday home also has an activity room, where you will find hours of quality entertainment. The activity room is a larger room with games such as darts, table football, billiards and table tennis. Here you can spend hours competing against each other in order to determine such matters as who should do the dishes after dinner or whose job it will be to get up early and make coffee for everyone else. If you are feeling up to it, you could also arrange a big tournament, where you take turns competing against everyone else other over the course of your holiday in order to determine who will be crowned family champ.
Each holiday home will also have a games console such as a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox. You can read more about this under the individual house description. Common for all of the houses is that you will need to bring your own games for the games console. There are no games in the holiday home. So bring some from home or ask your neighbours and friends if you can borrow some of their games while you are off at the summer house. Then you will be able to enjoy some gaming on your trip!
Experience beautiful nature and culture in a holiday home by Gilleleje
The combination of charming tourist, market and fishing environment makes Gilleleje a real gem of a holiday destination. You will find plenty to do here for both older and younger visitors alike, whether you are more into beach and water holidays or gorgeous nature, replete with forests, heather hills and steep escarpments. Gribskov Forest is approximately 15 km from Gilleleje and home to Lake Esrum which is another great place to swim and go sailing. Here you will find good options to enjoy the surrounding nature and to spend some quality time together with your nearest and dearest. If you have trouble getting the little ones excited about a long walk, then you can always sell it as a treasure hunt instead. The more things they collect, the more materials they will have to build something cool with afterwards. When you get home you can get creative and use the stones, branches, leaves and feathers you have collected to build a little figure, which you can take home with you as a unique souvenir from your trip. If that sounds a bit beyond your creative capabilities, then you can always collect stones instead and paint them when you get back home. This is a fun activity and not quite as elaborate as our other suggestion.
The lovely sandy beach at Gilleleje has calm and shallow waters, which makes it very suitable for children. The beach has been awarded a Blue Flag, which means there will be a lifeguard on site during high season. Unfortunately it also means that it is not permitted to bring dogs within 200 metres of either side of the flag. This beach is 350 metres long, which means that dogs are not permitted at all. Gilleleje Strand is located in what is known as the Danish Riviera – an area which stretches from the Sejerø Bay in the west to Øresund in the east. The Danish Riviera is not just beautiful Danish beaches – it also encompasses gorgeous castles, UNESCO-protected nature and some very charming harbour towns. Gilleleje has managed to preserve much of its original charming and idyllic fishing village atmosphere with quaint alleys and thatched roofs. It is even still possible to buy fresh fish direct from the boats.
Attractions near Gilleleje
Gilleleje and North Zealand in general boast many exciting sights and attractions, which are without a doubt worth either a visit or a day trip. Use one of your days to visit Fredensborg Palace, which is the summer residence of the Danish Queen. Fredensborg Palace is just one of the many big palaces and castles that you can find around North Zealand. You can also visit Frederiksborg Castle, which with its spires and turrets, looks like something straight from the pages of a fairy tale. Both castles have gorgeous gardens, which you can stroll around and get a real sense of the grandeur and scale of the buildings and the area. About 28 km from Gilleleje is the market town of Helsingør (or Elsinore as it is known in English), which is a charming town and home to the gorgeous Kronborg Castle, one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. There are also lots of intriguing castle ruins all around North Zealand, and only your imagination sets the limits for what sorts of exciting events and episodes might have played out in the castles that once stood there.
You will also be just 75 km from Copenhagen, with its lively culture scene, many museums, music, theatres, galleries and amusement parks such as Tivoli, the Planetarium, the Experimentarium, the Carlsberg Glyptotek, Rosenborg Castle, which is home to the crown jewels, Copenhagen Zoo, and much, much more. You will have no trouble spending a whole day in Copenhagen, and so in order not to feel overwhelmed. we recommend deciding what you would like the focus of your visit to be before arriving. The many attractions and museums make Copenhagen well suited for a family trip, as there is much to experience both for playful spirits and for mature minds as well.
