Houstrup Strand is a real gem of a destination by the popular and roaring North Sea
The area is located between Henne Strand and Nymindegab and thus close to many of the exciting attractions in West Jutland. West Jutland is a popular holiday destination in both the summer and winter – and this is not without good reason.
You can visit Legoland, go to the candle factory at Bork Havn, go on the rides at WOW Park in Skjern or go on a rail bike adventure between Nr. Nebel and Nymndegab.
The area around Houstrup Strand is home to a magnificent and wide sandy beach, with tall cliffs and good options for shelter. Despite the wild and roaring North Sea, the beach at Houstrup has been awarded Blue Flag status. The beach also has good parking facilities and toilets.
The nature around Houstrup Strand is characterised by forests and dunes. With its many good hiking and cycling routes, the area is perfect for getting out and about and exploring nature, whether this be at the protected dune plantation or the tallest dune in Denmark, Blåbjerg Klit. The views from the top of Blåbjerg Klit are truly impressive, so it is well worth making the journey up there. It is reportedly possible to see up to 40 church spires from up there on a clear day – so count for yourself and see if you can spot them all. The area has many angling spots and put-and-take lakes, golf courses, mountain biking trails and water sport activities, so everyone will have ample opportunity to do their favourite hobby or try something new. There are even good options for the family’s four-legged members, such as a walk in the Dog Forest (Hundeskoven) by the Blåbjerg Dune Plantation (access via Sønder Klitvej).
If you are visiting during the summer, then you will be able to visit Cirkus Zalmov on Houstrup Strandvejen. Performances are held daily in July and August – except on Saturdays when the animals have a day off.
