The properties are designed with the needs of holidaymakers in mind to help you enjoy the best possible family break. Bedrooms in the holiday homes for 18 and 16 people are divided into two separate sleeping quarters. Plus all of the summer houses also have a loft with space for between two and four guests to sleep. This layout makes it easier to take the needs and preferences of all guests into account when it comes to noise and privacy. Teenagers who want to sleep in can take one section while those who prefer to get up early and enjoy a morning cup of coffee can sleep in the other section. You can also let guests who enjoy a nap in the afternoon take the area which is furthest away from the lounge space. The loft is usually a hit with kids, as it allows them to set up their very own adult-free den where kids make the rules!
If yours is a family with four-legged members, you will have no trouble bringing them along on your holiday to Sweden. It is permitted to bring up to two pets to all of the holiday homes we rent out on Öland and at no extra cost. If you need to bring more than two pets with you on your holiday, then feel free to contact us and we will pass your request to the homeowner to see if we can find a solution. Remember that it is always your responsibility to make sure your pets do not cause any damage to the holiday home and that dogs are kept on a lead in all areas where this is required.
Fun and games in a holiday home on Öland
There are no guarantees what the weather will do when heading off on a holiday in the Nordic countries. That is why all of our homes provide an option to enjoy some fun in the water, no matter what the weather is doing outdoors. Four of the holiday homes we rent out on Öland have their own swimming pool, while all of the houses have both a sauna and a whirlpool. Both the whirlpool and the sauna can accommodate a small group of people at the same time. The sauna is perfect for getting some heat back in your bones after a walk or a dip somewhere out and about on Öland or for simply enjoying a moment of peace and serenity in that lovely heat.
If you don’t want raisin fingers all day, you can spend the rest of the day in the activity room. The activity room is a room where you will find games such as billiards, table football, darts and a games console. The games console could be a PlayStation 3 or a Nintendo Wii, for example. Remember to bring your own games for the games console, as these are not provided at the summer house. Not all games are available in all holiday homes but, under each individual holiday house listing, you will find information on what games consoles and what other games are provided in the house. The activity room presents you with the opportunity to host your very own tournament, so you can battle it out and determine who will be crowned the ultimate games master in your family. If a whole tournament strikes you as a bit too raucous, then you can simply play to determine whose job it will be to do the dishes after dinner!
Outdoors you will find even more options for enjoying some pleasant moments together in each other’s company. All of the holiday homes have a barbecue and comfortable garden furniture. So the adults can entertain each other while your evening meal is prepared on the barbecue. At the same time, kids can have fun running around in the garden and playing in the sandbox or on the swing set. The terrace is half-covered and so makes for the perfect place to enjoy those long and warm summer evenings or for getting cosy under some blankets with a mug of hot chocolate in hand on chillier evenings. Or if it’s just too cold to sit outside, you can take your blankets and hot chocolate and go inside to sit in front of the cosy wood-burning stove with a good book or a board game. This is the true essence of a holiday home break!
Holiday home rentals in one of Sweden’s most beautiful areas
In Sweden, we offer holiday home rentals on the beautiful island of Öland, which is located in the Baltic sea to the east of the Småland region. If you are travelling here from Denmark or mainland Europe, you can arrive by crossing the Øresund Bridge and then driving 300 km to the east until you reach the town of Kalmar. From Kalmar you can then cross the Öland Bridge from the Swedish mainland over to the island of Öland. The Öland Bridge is six kilometres long, and it has a hump in the middle which allows the numerous ships to pass underneath. Öland is an attractive island known among other things for being the place where the Swedish royal family spends their holidays. Its shape is reminiscent of the Danish island of Langeland, and it takes two hours to drive from one end of the island to the other. The island is home to many delightful holiday experiences which you can enjoy from one of the many holiday homes that we rent in Sweden.

Öland is the second largest of the Swedish islands, and it is connected to the mainland by the Öland Bridge. It is located in the Baltic Sea. All of the holiday homes we rent out on Öland are 2.5 km from the long and child-friendly beaches which characterises Öland. The summer houses that we rent out on Öland are located in tranquil and beautiful areas, where you will have no trouble unwinding and even experiencing some fantastic sunsets. There are beautiful views from the island over the Baltic Sea.
The nature on Öland varies greatly from north to south. You will find cliffs, plains-like areas, forests and open expanses. The nature on the island is an experience in and of itself, and with so many birds, stone fishing cottages and red wooden cabins, it is simply impossible not to get into the holiday mood while on this lovely island. The nature on Öland is so exceptional that it has secured the area a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List, while the southern end of the island is home to the world’s largest limestone terrace (Stora Alvaret). The area is comprised of a flat limestone base with a thin layer of earth on top, from which wild orchids grow. The area is also home to many different lakes and rocks. Visiting this spot is truly a special experience.

Activities and sights on Öland
It is not without good reason that the Swedish royal family goes on holiday to this island every year. Öland is home to attractions and activities to suit all tastes. If the children in your group are of school, age then they are big enough to come with you to Blå Jungfrun or the Blue Maiden, which is a protected island with lots of exciting caves and huge boulders. The island has been a national park since 1926, and because of its shape, it has long since been associated with magic, witchcraft and sorcery. The island is made up of beautiful pink granite rocks that have been sanded smooth by waves and glaciers over thousands of years. There is a three-kilometre-long hiking route on the island, which is marked by a trail. The trail takes about two hours, as it is encumbered by rocks, roots and steep climbs. It is not suitable for anybody with reduced mobility.
An alternative excursion might be a visit to the Öland Zoo and Amusement Park. The Öland Zoo and Amusement Park is in a league of its own and home to a zoo, amusement park, circus and even a water park. Basically it’s three parks in one: zoo, amusement park and water park. So you will have no trouble spending many hours here, with something for all family members to enjoy.
Lådbilslandet is a park where you can ride soapbox cars, farm machines in a miniature format, motocross, formula 1 or a mini-train. It’s a fun experience for all ages and who knows? Perhaps one of you might discover your inner race car driver or maybe Grandad will share a story or two from his days tearing up the tracks.
Another option would be to visit Borgholm Castle. Borgholm Castle has a museum which explains what life was like at the castle and about the wars between Denmark and Sweden. Here you will also have the opportunity to attend knight school, make your own coat of arms and be dubbed a knight!
