Tisvildeleje Strand

The beach at Tisvildeleje is a child-friendly and sandy beach with good water quality for bathing and swimming. The beach is around 25 metres wide, so you are sure to find the perfect spot for the whole family, even on warm summer days when bathers from far and wide flock here to enjoy the water. A popular spot on the beach is solnedgangsbakken, or sunset hill. Walk up the steps from the beach to the top of the hill and enjoy some fantastic views over the Sjællands Odde peninsula, Hesselø island and even Sweden. From the beach at Tisvildeleje, you can see the characteristic beach huts that have been on this beach since the early 20th century. The beach has a Blue Flag and good toilet facilities.

Heatherhill

Heatherhill is located in Rågeleje, about nine kilometres from Tisvildeleje, and it is a real mecca for paragliders and windsurfers. The area gets its name from the heather-clad hills and is in many ways reminiscent of the Scottish highlands. It is home to many excellent hiking trails and offers incredible views of the Kattegat Strait. So be sure to visit Heatherhill if you want to spend some time exploring and enjoying nature on your trip.

Helene Kilde

Helene Kilde is a so-called wellness spring located close to Tisvildeleje. It has long since been said that this sacred spring has healing powers if you come and drink from it on St. John’s Eve.

Tisvilde Hegn

Tisvildeleje is not far from Denmark’s fifth largest forest, Tisvilde Hegn, where you can experience the Asserbo castle ruins. Asserbo castle was built in the 1100s by the bishop and statesman Absalon. The castle is thought to have been abandoned some time in the 1700s. The ruins sit in a pretty location in the so-called Troldeskov, or witches’ forest, which is one of the most popular parts of Tisvilde Hegn. Here you can explore the forest and its old, gnarled pine trees which have taken on many amusing shapes. The oldest pine trees in this part of the forest date back to the 1700s.

Helsinge

If you feel like venturing a little further out, you can visit the charming market town of Helsinge. Helsinge is home to many nice restaurants and shops, as well as museums and other sights.

North Zealand Bird Park

A trip to the North Zealand Bird Park in Græsted is sure to be a hit with the youngest members of your family.
