Nature around Marielyst
There are two nature parks which you can visit on Falster. Mario Lakes Nature Park and Nakskov Fjord Nature Park The Mario Lakes Nature Park is reminiscent of the Swedish archipelago, with its many lakes and small islands and islets. The birdlife in this area is unique. and you may be lucky enough to spot the white-tailed eagle and the rare osprey.
There is also rich birdlife at Nakskov Fjord, and similar to Maribo Lakes, you will also find many islands and islets here. The nature park and the area around Nakskov Fjord are particularly known for the long jetty at Hestehoved Strand. The jetty is a full 190 m long and thus the third longest jetty in Denmark. Denmark’s longest jetty is in Odsherred and measures 320 metres, while the jetty at Søvang near Dragør is 279 metres in length.
